Do domestic heat pump water heaters save electricity?

Simply speaking, the power consumption of domestic heat pump water heaters is determined by the power consumption of the compressor. However, the compressor does not require much electricity to work. Even so, many people still don't know how much domestic heat pump water heaters save electricity. So, how much power do heat pump water heaters save?

1. Working principle of heat pump water heaters Simply put, heat pump water heaters use a compressor to compress the refrigerant, which causes the temperature of the refrigerant to rise and transfer heat to the hot water. In the whole process, only the compressor consumes electricity, and no other devices consume electricity. In theory, domestic heat pump water heaters only consume 662.4 kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, costing a total of 401 yuan, while solar water heaters, electric water heaters and liquefied gas water heaters cost 440 yuan, 1606 yuan, and 2009 yuan respectively.

2. The electricity consumption of heat pump water heaters. We can analyze the power consumption of domestic heat pump water heaters from the experimental data. Experimental data shows that it takes 50 minutes for heat pump water heaters to heat 150L of water to 55 degrees Celsius, while a certain brand of electric water heater with 60L water capacity takes 1 hour. Calculating from the electric energy consumed, domestic heat pump water heaters consume only 0.9 kilowatts of electricity during this period, while electric water heaters consume 3 kilowatts of electricity with only 60L of water. It can be seen that the power saving of heat pump water heaters is obvious.

3. Consumption of heat pump water heaters To sum up, when electric water heaters consume 4 kWh of electricity, domestic heat pump water heaters just use 1 kWh of electricity, and the power consumption of heat pump water heaters is very small. The reason why domestic heat pump water heaters can do this, in addition to the "only compressor power consumption" mentioned above, is directly related to the heat preservation effect of the heat pump water heaters.
