How much does it Cost to Heat an Air Source Heat Pump?

The electricity cost of heating an air source heat pump varies depending on a variety of factors, including the size of the house, the power of the heat pump, the energy efficiency ratio (COP), the electricity price, and usage habits. Here are some specific estimates and analyses:

 

Electricity cost estimation

For a 100-square-meter room, using a 5-horsepower air source heat pump, the power consumption is about 4 kWh per hour, running 10 hours a day, and calculated at 0.5 yuan per kWh, the electricity cost per day is about 20 yuan.

 

In northern regions (except for extremely cold regions), the total electricity cost for a heating season (usually four months) is about 2,800 yuan.

 

Another estimation method shows that using a 6-horsepower air source heat pump for heating, the electricity cost for one month is about 600 to 800 yuan.

 

Seasonal costs

Take a heating season as an example, assuming that it runs 10 hours a day, the total power consumption is about 1,200 kWh, and the electricity cost for one month is about 660 yuan at 0.55 yuan per kWh.

 

In some areas, such as Shanxi, the electricity price for coal-to-electricity conversion is 0.28 yuan per kilowatt-hour, so the daily heating cost is about 25.2 yuan.

 

Influencing factors

The energy efficiency ratio (COP) of the air source heat pump has a significant impact on the electricity bill. For example, when the COP is 3.5, 3.5 degrees of heat can be generated for every 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity consumed, which will reduce the actual power consumption.

 

The insulation performance of the house will also affect the power consumption. Good insulation can reduce the running time of the heat pump, thereby reducing the electricity bill.

 

Long-term economic benefits

Although the initial investment is high, the air source heat pump can recover its cost within a few years by saving energy and reducing energy consumption. For example, using an air source heat pump for heating is about 30% cheaper than a traditional gas wall-mounted boiler.

 

The electricity cost of air source heat pump heating varies according to the specific situation, but in general, its operating cost is relatively low, and it is highly economical and environmentally friendly. It is recommended that users choose the appropriate model according to their own needs and make detailed calculations based on local electricity prices and climatic conditions.
