    Are Heat Pump Pool Heaters Worth It?

    Mini heat pumps are a new type of heat pump on the pool market. These heat pumps are very easy to install, no previous installation is required and a bypass is specified.

    1. Save energy

    Pool heat pumps are known to be very effective at transferring heat from ambient air to pool water. With a high efficiency of 4.3-5.3 and a COP of 4.3-5.3, the Leomon Mini Pool Heat Pump is very energy efficient and only needs 1 kW of electricity (when using a pool cover) to generate up to 5.3 kW of heat for the pool. Save up to 80% of the cost compared to an electric pool heater. A 4kw electric heater will consume 16kw of power. It is an excellent alternative to electric heaters for above ground pools up to 25m3. Due to their small size, compact heat pumps are easier to save energy and money.

    2. Ease of use

    The Leomon Mini Pool Heat Pump is very simple to use. Plug and play. Connect the pool heat pump, turn it on, and select the appropriate pool water temperature. The mini pool heater unit has a digital display that allows you to customize the operating parameters to your liking.

    Press the up or down key to select the pool temperature, the pool heater will stay on once it is reached. This pool heat pump is also very light. Most of our customers install it themselves and it takes less than 5 minutes from receipt to use. So operating your pool is a breeze.

    3. Quality Assurance

    Durable and long service life. The heat exchange components of the Leomon Mini Pool Heat Pump are PVC and Titanium materials. It can withstand swimming pool water, including saltwater pools exposed for a long time (salt concentration should be less than 0.60%. The titanium tube of the swimming pool heater is twisted and has a larger heat exchange area, which helps to improve the efficiency of the swimming pool heat pump.     4. Easy installation

    The Leomon Mini Pool Heat Pump is simple to install; no pre-installation or special bypass is required. Connect the pool heater to the pool's existing plumbing and the pool circulation pump will circulate the pool water through it. For a basic installation that is ready to go, only minimal maintenance may be required.

    Mini pool heaters are economical and efficient. It can be installed in a variety of pools, including composite pools, wood pools, steel pools, and inflatable pools. Leomon Mini Pool Heat Pumps are available in four sizes: 2.5kw, 4.5kw, 5.5kw and 6.5kw for pools up to 25m3. It is intended to be installed outdoors in a well-ventilated location.

    How Mini Heat Pump Pool Heaters Work

    1. As the pool water circulates through the pool pump, it passes through the filter and heat pump heater. Heat pump heaters have a fan that draws in outside air and directs it over the evaporator coil. The liquid refrigerant inside the evaporator coil absorbs heat from the outside air and turns into a gas. The hot gas in the coil then passes through the compressor.

    2. The compressor raises the temperature, resulting in hot gas passing through the condenser.

    The condenser is responsible for transferring the heat from the hot air to the cooler pool water that circulates through the heater.

    3. The heated water is then circulated back to the pool.

    4. As it passes through the condenser coil, the hot gas cools and returns to the evaporator, where the process begins again.

    Heat pump pool heaters work efficiently as long as the outside temperature remains above the 45ºF–50ºF range. The colder the outside air they draw in, the less efficient they are, resulting in higher energy bills. However, since most people use outdoor pools in warm and mild weather, this is usually not a problem.


    How to calculate your pool water level:

    You can easily calculate the amount of water in the pool as follows:

    1. Circular pool

    To calculate the volume of a circular pool, you can use the formula

    Pool volume = 3.14 x radius x radius x depth

    Measure the diameter of the pool in meters

    Half the diameter gives the radius of the pool

    Multiply by 3.14 x radius x radius x pool depth

    2. Rectangular pool

    Pool volume = length x width x depth

    example:

    6m x 4m pool, 0.8 m deep = 6 x 4 x 0.8 = 19.2 m3

    3. Variable depth pools: square and rectangular

    Heat pump pool heaters depend on the size of your pool.

    Length x Width x Average Depth = Volume (m cubed)

    Length x Width x Average Depth x 7.5 = Volume (gallons)

    The length times the width gives the surface area of the pool. Multiply this by the average depth to give the volume in cubic meters.

    If you want to calculate the pool volume in gallons, multiply the result by 7.5 because there are 7.5 gallons per cubic foot.

    Measure the length, width and average depth of the pool, rounding each measurement to the nearest meter. Above Ground Pool Heat Pump

    If the shallow end is 0.5 m and the deep end is 1 m, and assuming a gentle slope of the bottom of the pool, the average depth is 0.75 m
